This page explains what this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. "We" means Callahan Tire and Lube, 541735 US Hwy 1, Callahan, FL 32011. The website and its forms are run for the shop by AbakysTech LLC.
What we collect
Only what you send us on the Customer rides page (Claim my ride, Post my vehicle or Request take-down):
- Your name, and a phone number or email address
- Your vehicle's year, make, model and VIN
- Your photos, your story and how your visit went, if you add them
- What you let us show (photo, first name, story), and for a claim or take-down, the photo's slot number and your reason
- The time you sent it, your IP address and your browser type, to stop spam and abuse
You do not need an account. We do not use ads, tracking tools, analytics or cookies.
How we use it
- To look over your post, claim or take-down, and to put your ride on the site the way you chose
- To contact you about your request, including an email when it is done
- To check the VIN (see below)
Why we ask for your VIN
We ask for it to prevent spam, fraud and malicious requests, such as someone asking to take down a vehicle that is not theirs, and to help confirm a request is about the right vehicle. A VIN that checks out helps, but it does not prove who owns a vehicle: the shop still looks over every request by hand. Vehicles from before 1981 have shorter VINs that cannot be checked this way, so the shop checks those by hand. Your VIN is never displayed publicly.
What we show on the site
Only what you ticked: your photo, your first name and your story. We never show your last name, phone number, email address or VIN.
Who sees it
- The shop, and AbakysTech LLC, which runs the website and its forms
- Our web host (Hostinger), which stores the site, the forms you send and our email
- The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): the VIN only. As you type it, your browser checks it with NHTSA's free VIN decoder, and our server checks it again when you send the form. Nothing else about you is sent.
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Maps
The map on the home page is Google Maps. It loads only when you scroll near it; Google may set its own cookies then, and Google's privacy policy applies to it. The Directions buttons open Google Maps or Apple Maps.
Stored in your browser
The Customer rides page remembers whether you picked Grid or Spotlight, and each page remembers where you were when you refresh. Both stay in your own browser and are never sent to us.
How long we keep it
What you send, including your VIN, is kept in a private folder on our web host, not on the public site. If your photo goes up, we keep it while the photo is on the site.
When we take a photo down, or turn a request down, we delete the VIN, the photos and your contact details from that folder. We keep only a short record: the kind of request, the vehicle, the photo number, what we did and when.
Copies also stay in the email the shop receives and in your own receipt (which shows only the last four characters of your VIN), and our web host may keep backups for a limited time. Those are not erased right away.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time at legal@abakystech.com. We will delete the stored copy and our emails. Copies already in your own inbox or in the host's backups stay until they are deleted or expire.
Your choices
- To take your photo, name or story off the site, use Request take-down, or email legal@abakystech.com if you can't use the form.
- To see, correct or delete what you sent us, email legal@abakystech.com.
Children
This site is not meant for children under 13. Please do not send us anything if you are under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
